Angelica graduated from Cardiff University in 2020. During medical school, she developed a strong interest in Diabetes and Endocrinology and was awarded a Wellcome Trust INSPIRE scholarship to undertake research on care provision for individuals with type 1 diabetes. She also completed an intercalated BSc in Endocrinology at King’s College London, achieving first-class honours for her research on diabetes-related foot disease outcomes following kidney-only and simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation (SPK).
As an Academic Foundation Doctor at Imperial College London, she conducted research on the use of cardiometabolic risk factors to predict dementia in individuals with type 2 diabetes, as well as the use of prednisolone in management of adrenal insufficiency.
She subsequently undertook an Academic Clinical Fellowship in Endocrinology in the East of England, where she co-led the DEKODE (Digital Evaluation of Ketosis and Diabetes-related Emergencies) initiative, contributing to multiple peer-reviewed publications and oral presentations.
She has recently been awarded a prestigious NIHR Doctoral Fellowship and will commence her doctoral research at Imperial College London in September 2026, focusing on optimising glucocorticoid tapering protocols for patients at risk of adrenal insufficiency.
Within YDEF, she is keen on teaching, widening access to research opportunities, and promoting collaboration in academia amongst resident doctors.
