Ruth Harris is Professor of Health Care for Older Adults in the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care at King’s College London. She is a nurse and health service researcher. Her research focuses on the development and evaluation of complex interventions to improve fundamental care and explain how the organisation of interprofessional teams and services has an impact on patient experience and outcome of care, particularly for older people and those with long-term conditions. Ruth leads the realist synthesis and realist process evaluation work packages in the NIHR/Diabetes UK funded D-Stress research programme to develop interventions to reduce diabetes distress for people with type 1 diabetes. She is deputy director of the NIHR Health & Social Care Workforce Research Unit at King’s, Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing and a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Nursing Studies.
