Rahab Hashim

Advanced Diabetes Nurse Practitioner and Diabetes Researcher

Rahab qualified as a registered nurse from the University of the West of England and began her career at Weston General Hospital in North Somerset in 2010 on a surgical ward. She later worked as a junior sister specialising in the care of older adults before taking a development role to specialise in diabetes in 2015.

Since then, Rahab has worked as a Diabetes Specialist Nurse, delivering diabetes care across inpatient and outpatient settings. She recently transitioned to primary care and currently works as an Advanced Diabetes Nurse Practitioner at The Cedars Surgery in Weston-super-Mare.

In 2021, Rahab was awarded a Doctoral Fellowship at King’s College London, funded by the Foundation of European Nurses in Diabetes (FEND), and successfully completed her PhD in 2025. Her research explored the sexual experiences of women living with type 1 diabetes, contributing new insights to an often-overlooked aspect of diabetes care.
