Professor May Ng OBE

Professor May Ng is a Professor of Child Health at Edge Hill University and a Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at Mersey West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. She completed her MBBS (Hons) under full scholarship in Sydney, Australia and was the recipient of the Medical Research Council Fellowship. She obtained a Masters and PhD degree in paediatric endocrinology, Master of Laws and an MBA in Healthcare Finance Management. She has published over 180 research papers and authored 4 books ‘A guide to Type 1 diabetes management, technology and everything else you need to know; ‘A Journey With Brendan’ ‘Me and My Hormones’ and ‘Autism Decoded’. She is the Chair of Diabetes Research Steering Group for Children, Officer for Research Royal College of Paediatrics and was on the NICE Diabetes Guideline Committee. She was past President of UK Association of Children’s Diabetes Clinicians. She also Chairs E-Learning Committee for European Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and the International Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes. She is a Trustee and the Chief Medical Advisor for Action4Diabetes, a UK registered charity. Professor May Ng was awarded an OBE in 2022 for Services to People with Diabetes and People with Autism and Disabilities. She is recipient of numerous awards such as Diabetes UK Arnold Bloom 2023, winner of Northwest Excellence in Healthcare NHS Parliamentary Awards 2020, Mary McKinnon Award 2018, University of Liverpool Alumni Award 2019 and winner of 2015 and 2025 Diabetes QiC award. She is active in charitable causes to raise autism and deaf awareness and has been profiled on The Lancet journal feature in February 2023.
