Kathleen is Professor of Molecular Medicine at the University of Bristol where she has led the Type 1 Diabetes Research Group since 2014. She is interested in the mechanisms underlying autoimmunity, is the author of >100 peer-reviewed publications. The Research Group houses the Alistair Williams Antibody Facility which is an internationally recognised centre for measuring type 1 diabetes risk markers. Current projects include the first natural history study of risk of type 1 diabetes in general population adults (Type 1 diabetes risk in adults - T1DRA) and developing new biomarker assays to inform progression rate. She serves on the Diabetes UK Research Committee and is Chair of the UK Type 1 Diabetes Research Consortium.
