Katie Hards is a nurse, doctoral student, and educator passionate about diabetes care. She has had the privilege of working in diabetes across primary, community, and secondary care settings throughout her extensive career. She has also attended Diabetes UK childrens camps for many years. She currently works at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a lead Diabetes Nurse, overseeing inpatient and outpatient services, with all the challenges this entails. She has witnessed the evolution of diabetes care from glass syringes and urine testing to the exciting technological advancements, which drive her overall commitment to making a difference. In the lives of people with diabetes and to improve skills and knowledge within the current and future multidisciplinary workforce, underpinned by evidence and research.
