Jackie Sturt is Professor of Behavioural Medicine in Nursing and a registered general and mental health nurse. She leads the Research Division for Care in Long Term Conditions in the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care, King’s College London. Mental health and wellbeing in diabetes has been a consistent thread across her career. She has led research in diabetes self-management, funded by Diabetes UK, NIHR and supervises doctoral students gaining fellowships from across the world. During Jackie’s early post-doctoral career, she was an innovator in bringing people with diabetes into the research infrastructure by developing and sustaining the Warwick Diabetes Care User Group between 2001-11. Jackie leads a programme of research to develop and evaluate care pathways within the NHS for the detection, prevention and management of diabetes distress in both type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes. She has a strong interest in post-traumatic stress disorder in people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Jackie was Deputy Chair of the PsychoSocial Aspects of Diabetes Study Group from 2019-26.
