Iain is ‘Expert through Experience’, diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) Age 7 in 1962. T1D has not deterred him from a career requiring long flexible hours as a Broadcast Engineer in a voiceover studio in the International Press Centre, London, working in Corporate Broadcast video work in Edinburgh and many years as Senior Broadcast Engineer with Radio Forth in Edinburgh. He then switched career to become a Corporate Photographer travelling the UK. Iain was Vice-Chair of the Diabetes UK Edinburgh committee. He has been a Patron of Breakthrough T1D for many years and has been a speaker at Talking About Diabetes (TAD) in Liverpool. In 2025 he was a #dedoc° voice at the Diabetes UK Professional Conference 2025, Glasgow and EASD 2025, Vienna. Iain has been Manchester based for nearly 20years. Through his engineering background and desire for precision, he is an expert in Type 1 Diabetes management.
