Dr. Dulmini Kariyawasam is the Clinical Lead for Diabetes and the Lead for Young Adult Diabetes and Endocrine Services at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in London. She is passionate about improving care for young people living with diabetes and has dedicated much of her work to developing innovative, youth-focused services.

Dr. Kariyawasam co-developed the YES (Young Empowerment in Self-care) programme with her multidisciplinary team, a structured education and support programme for young people with T1 Diabetes  aged 14–19 years across London. The programme empowers young people with the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to manage their diabetes effectively. Its success has led to international collaboration, including delivery at the Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen in Denmark.

She has a particular interest in improving outcomes for young adults with Type 2 diabetes . Her team’s work has received several recognitions, including awards from HSJ Awards, Quality in Care Awards, and Diabetes UK.
