Noel Morgan is an islet biologist whose research career has contributed seminal advances to the understanding of signalling mechanisms regulating pancreatic beta-cell function and the factors leading to beta-cell loss in type 1 diabetes. He was appointed Professor of Cellular Pharmacology at Keele University in 1993 before moving to a Chair at the University of Exeter Medical School in 2002. In Exeter, Noel served as Director of the Institute of Biomedical and Clinical Science from 2009-2022. He was awarded the Dorothy Hodgkin Lectureship by Diabetes UK in 2017 and was recipient of a lifetime achievement award from the Network of Pancreatic Organ Donors with Diabetes (nPOD; USA) and the GF Bottazzo Prize from the Immunology of Diabetes Society in 2024. Noel was appointed Editor-in-Chief of Diabetic Medicine in July 2025.
