Since 2010, Andrea Lake has worked in a joint research and clinical nurse specialist role. Andrea has previously had a leadership role within the local inpatient diabetes service and worked across outpatient areas. Most recently Andrea has been working in the diabetes in pregnancy service. Within her lead diabetes research nurse role, she has been involved in delivering on a variety of diabetes trials and supported research as needed across the specialities of diabetes, endocrinology and weight management, from set up through to the dissemination of results. She also facilitates and supports the local patient and public involvement group. In 2018, Andrea completed her NIHR pre doctoral fellowship with distinction. She is a member of the Royal College of Nurses and previous member of the Joint British Diabetes Society for inpatient care group and diabetes inpatient specialist nurse (DISN) UK group. She is currently undertaking an NIHR Clinical doctoral research fellowship. She has a key interest in supporting those with diabetes and long-term conditions during specific phases of healthcare needs such as during hospital admission and pregnancy, the translation of research into clinical practice and service and workforce development.
