Andrea Gledhill is a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where she leads the podiatric surgery team within the Trauma and Orthopaedics department. A Fellow of both the Faculty of Podiatric Surgery (Royal College of Podiatry) and the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine (Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons), she is a national surgical tutor and brings over 20 years of experience in advanced podiatric care and surgical innovation. She is a member of the International Association of Diabetic Foot Surgeons and has recently joined the EWMA Diabetic Foot Committee.
She has a strong background as an Extended Scope Podiatrist since 2004 and over 13 years of experience in surgical skills training. Her clinical focus is the assessment, diagnosis, and surgical management of complex and high-risk foot conditions. She specialises in diabetic foot disease, peripheral arterial disease, and limb salvage performing everything from wound debridement and amputations to advanced interventions using bone grafts, antibiotic biologics, and plastic surgery techniques.
She has completed a national workforce reform review for the Royal College of Podiatry, is actively involved in research, and is currently leading a local service audit on workforce planning and quality metrics in podiatric surgery. Her ambition is to further grow as a senior clinical academic — bridging surgical practice with research and innovation, particularly in the field of diabetic foot care and amputation prevention. Clinical excellence, academic rigour, and professional leadership in limb preservation are the pillars of her journey — past, present, and future.
