Vicki Johnson

Vicki Johnson is a physiotherapist and Lead Research Associate at the Leicester Diabetes Centre, a collaboration between the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and University of Leicester. She has extensive experience in developing, delivering and evaluating complex health interventions within research, the NHS and industry, with particular interests in physical activity, diabetes self-management and structured education.

In 2026, Vicki significantly contributed to the development and mobilisation of Healthy Living, the national digital diabetes programme, including work relating to educational content, physical activity resources and accessibility. Her wider work includes developing and evaluating interventions for people living with type 2 diabetes and diabetes-related complications and prevention of long-term health conditions; some of which have achieved local and national recognition. She has a growing publication portfolio spanning complex intervention development, feasibility and evaluation. She is passionate about interventions being high-quality, meaningful and translating into clinical and real-world situations.
