Sara White is a Metabolic Physician (having completed specialist training in Clinical Biochemistry and Metabolic Medicine) with clinical expertise in the management of diabetes in pregnancy (all types) and preconception care for women with diabetes. She is a member of the diabetes in pregnancy clinical team at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London, and leads the Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders in Pregnancy Group within the Department of Women and Children’s Health at King’s College London. Through local, national and international collaborations, her research activities very much reflect her clinical expertise; she has a special interest in the pathophysiological pathways to hyperglycaemia in pregnancy and stratification of subtypes, gestational diabetes risk assessment, as well as pragmatic trials designed to improve the outcomes and experience of individuals with diabetes in pregnancy. Her overarching aim is finding ways to optimise maternal and offspring health through the preconception, pregnancy and postpartum periods.
