Professor Stuart McPherson is a Consultant Hepatologist at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Professor of Hepatology Practice at Newcastle University. He is a recognised clinical and academic expert in metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), with research interests spanning early disease detection, non-invasive diagnosis, risk stratification, and treatment. He currently chairs the British Society of Gastroenterology Investigation of Suspected Liver Disease Guideline Development Group and is Vice President (Hepatology) of the British Society of Gastroenterology.
