Prof Barnard-Kelly is an internationally recognized expert in the psychosocial aspects of diabetes, with a sustained focus on reducing patient burden, improving engagement with care, and embedding person-centered outcomes into clinical research, health technology development, and routine practice. She brings more than two decades of experience developing, validating, and implementing psychosocial and patient-reported outcome measures, including leading the only team to receive U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Medical Device Development Tool (MDDT) qualification for a diabetes patient-reported outcome measure (INSPIRE). Her work has directly informed regulatory review, clinical guidelines, and industry standards for diabetes technologies and models of care. She have authored more than 250 peer-reviewed scientific articles in high-impact journals.
