Nikki Dawson

Nikki Dawson is a Lead Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse (PDSN) and Lead Nurse for the East of England Children and Young People’s Diabetes Network, as well as the East of England Children and Young People’s Diabetes Clinical Lead for NHS England.

Nikki has extensive experience in paediatric diabetes, clinical leadership and service development, with particular interests in diabetes technology, hybrid closed-loop systems, health inequalities, patient and family voice, transition and workforce development.

She is a member of the RCN Diabetes Forum Steering Committee and a previous Diabetes UK Clinical Champion, and has contributed to regional and national work to improve diabetes care and outcomes for children, young people and their families.

Nikki is passionate about reducing inequalities and ensuring that the voices and experiences of children, young people, families and the wider multidisciplinary workforce are reflected in diabetes care, education, research and service development.

As a member of the Diabetes UK Professional Conference 2027 Organising Committee, Nikki is keen to help shape an inclusive, engaging and relevant programme that reflects the breadth of diabetes care and showcases innovation, evidence and lived experience.
