Julia completed a BSc (Hons) in Cell and Molecular Biology in Manchester in 2001 whereafter she worked as a Project manager and then an Analytical Chemist.
Julia registered as a Nurse in 2006 with a PGDip at the University of Nottingham (Lincoln) and gained experience in secondary care on acute medical wards in Lincoln and Nottingham including Diabetes and Renal wards and Acute admissions, before completing a PGCert in Acute Clinical Skills and working as a Nurse Advisor and Practitioner in Primary care settings. She completed her independent and Supplementary prescribing in Primary care. Julia took her first Research Nurse job in Nottingham's City Hospital Genetics centre before moving to her current role.
Julia lives with Type 1 Diabetes and was involved in the Diabetes NSF Local implementation teams in Lincoln and also the National Diabetes Support teams as a patient representative in the early 2000's. She has also Lectured as a guest speaker at Nottingham University.
Julia currently works as a Senior Diabetes Clinical Research Nurse, Leicester Diabetes Centre, Leicester General Hospital, University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust. She plays a pivotal role in the delivery and management of Professor Pratik Choudhary's portfolio of Research, with a focus on diabetes technology and people living with Type 1 diabetes.
