Harriet Launders

Anti-Infectives Pharmacist, University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust & Hampshire Isle of Wight NHS Foundation Trust

Harriet Launders is a lead anti-infectives pharmacist at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

She is an independent prescriber and completed a Masters in Infection Management for Pharmacists at Imperial in 2014.  With a keen interest in Antimicrobial Stewardship Harriet contributes to training and education for pharmacists, non medical prescribers, medical undergraduates and other healthcare professionals.

Harriet and her antimicrobial pharmacist colleagues are part of the diabetic foot multi disciplinary team, aiming to optimise diabetes care and antimicrobial choice for each patient.  The rise of antimicrobial resistance is limiting the options but the Southampton Antimicrobial pharmacy team are moving towards the COpAT (Complex Outpatient Antimicrobial Therapy) model to support complex patients, such as those with diabetes, at home. At this conference Harriet will share the pharmacist perspective when deciding on antibiotics for patients with diabetes and how risks can be mitigated.
