Giulia De Rossi

Dr Giulia De Rossi is a vascular biologist, Lecturer and Principal Investigator at University College London Institute of Ophthalmology. Her research focuses on the retinal vasculature and how endothelial cells and pericytes communicate in health and disease. She is a Diabetes UK and Moorfields Eye Charity RD Lawrence Fellow, investigating how the secreted glycoprotein LRG1 drives pericyte dysfunction in early diabetic retinopathy. Her group also studies neovascular age-related macular degeneration, including mechanisms of subretinal fibrosis, and is developing new ex vivo tools to image the ocular microcirculation. Alongside her research, Dr De Rossi is the Early Career Researcher Academic Lead at the Institute, where she champions career development and equity for early career scientists.
