Dr Vincent Simpson is a diabetes registrar and sustainability leader dedicated to reducing the environmental impact of diabetes care. He has been at the forefront of initiatives that align high-quality patient outcomes with low-carbon healthcare delivery, with a particular focus on practical, scalable solutions within routine clinical practice. Vincent leads the PenSwitch project, which aims to make reusable cartridge pens the default insulin delivery method in Devon, reducing plastic waste by up to 90% and carbon footprint by 40%.

His work has been recognised nationally with the Sanofi Green Award and the Excellence in Patient Care Award from the Royal College of Physicians. He now leads the development of a multi-stakeholder sustainable diabetes care position statement, raising awareness of environmental challenges and providing a framework for future action. Vincent continues to influence policy and practice, guided by people living with diabetes.
