I am an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in Diabetes and Endocrinology at the University of Sheffield. My research focuses on the neurological complications of diabetes, particularly painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
My work has centred on identifying central mechanisms of pain using advanced neuroimaging techniques. This has included studies examining structural and functional brain differences between painful and painless diabetic neuropathy, contributing to emerging evidence that central nervous system alterations play a role in pain generation in diabetes. I have also been involved in clinical and translational research aiming to better improve stratification in clinical studies.
Alongside this, I contribute to clinical research delivery and training within diabetes and endocrinology, with a broader interest in improving the understanding and management of painful diabetic neuropathy.
