Professor Jeremy Tomlinson

Professor of Metabolic Endocrinology & Consultant Endocrinologist, University of Oxford

Jeremy Tomlinson is currently Professor of Metabolic Endocrinology and consultant endocrinologist at University of Oxford and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation trust. He was awarded his PhD from University of Birmingham in 2003. His research investigates the pathogenesis of human obesity, insulin resistance and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). His work in the MASLD field has explored pathogenic mechanisms including the role of steroid hormones and bile acids, the development and use of novel biomarkers to stage disease as well as investigating the therapeutic benefit of new agents and defining their mechanism of action. For more than 15 years, he has been part of multidisciplinary metabolic hepatology clinics working alongside hepatologists to treat patients with MASLD.
